Keeping away the brain freeze in frigid February

Here in Western New York we’ve been blessed with a fairly mild winter. My neighborhood received its first major winter storm just a few days ago.

Thanks to my sunny studio and a roaring gas fire, (heartfelt thank you to my wonderful husband for fixing the blower!) I have been able to design and produce no matter the weather.

Here are a few of the things I have been working on…

Stained Glass Brightens the Winter Day

I recently took a slight detour from fused glass jewelry and decorative pottery to begin working on stained glass. Nothing extremely ambitious yet, as I am honing my soldering skills.  Yesterday I created a simple indoor/outdoor sun catcher held together with twine and Lake Ontario driftwood.  Although it needs a bit of tweaking, I feel inspired to create more of these!

Today I went to a local treasure, Sunshine Glassworks, to browse their vast selection of stained and fusable glass.   Ahh...this new glass reminds me of bountiful spring gardens and crystal blue summer lakes on a grayish winter day!
